Great conditions have developed with more snow through today and next week setting Ben Lomond up for a winter party heading into the final weeks of July. Lodge members, business owners and snow bunnies young and old will be doing their snow dance at the prospect of getting up to their favourite Tassie stomping ground for their snow fix at the next opportunity.

For those people venturing to the mountain and asking about lifts and what’s happening, the BLC will be aiming to keep you updated in many ways. Regular posts on the website and social media will be a core part of how you can stay up to date. In addition we will be speaking regularly with scheduled chats with ABC Tas on Friday evenings soon after 5:30 as the weekend approaches.

Chains are required to be carried from the lower car park until the end of the winter months. No chains catch the Ben Lomond Snow Sports transport service. From the lower car park. $20 each or $60 for a family of four. The Snow Sports crew are operating 3 shuffle buses on demand and round the clock during the day 7 days a week through the season.

Snow sports also have all your ski, board and clothing hire and lesson needs covered along with an extensive cafe of hot and cold food and drink options cafe on the mountain.

As updates are available they will be shared here.

Looking into the weather forecast. Snow to low levels is forecast through the week on and off which should help improve the snow base across the back slopes further and hopefully be enough to commence more lift operations. Snow goers were lucky to get a late afternoon ride of the Alpine Enterprises Bass poma today after crews finished deicing works.

Good morning currently blue sky’s and a light wind blowing today.
Snow cover remains good which has hardened up overnight but this will probably soften up over the day.
There has also been some natural loss of snow over the last few warm days so there are some rocks and bushes starting to protrude through the cover so some caution is advised.

This morning there is little wind, an extensive cover of snow and conditions are hard and fast this morning. It’s currently just below 0 with the overnight minimum of -1.6. Check the snow report for the latest on Lift operations. Tomorrow kids don’t forget race registration is from 9am at the race hut opposite the ticket office.

The car park remains quite icy so be aware of conditions when parking.

If you are staying overnight, ensure your car is left in gear, there is enough space between vehicles and the handbrake is left off. Why you ask? In cold conditions your cars handbreak can freeze together and not release the wheels.
