Mountain Update – Lifts are go on Ben Lomond this morning

Good morning snow goers. This morning Alpine Enterprises have confirmed there will be two lifts operating today on their morning snow report. Thanks also to Alpine Enterprises for today’s feature image looking towards Bass Lift.

Parks and wildlife have confirmed that 2wd vehicles will be required to fit chains this morning as the road is icy so obey the signage and follow directions of your Parks team.

Mountain update – What to keep in mind when visiting

Good evening snowgoers! Things are starting to freeze over on Ben Lomond with a significant fall of snow and a solid freeze is expected tonight. Cold temperatures are expected to continue through the week with possible follow up snow forecast overnight and again next weekend. The Ben Lomond Committee website is linking with all the main pages to provide snow goers with a full overview of what Ben Lomond has on offer from our members.

Road Conditions – Ben Lomond road and the car park has been cleared today but there will be snow ice on the road from the park registration area and in particular Jacob’s ladder, the plateau and car park, all vehicle operators are urged to take care with sub zero temperatures. Vehicle operators should consider the conditions follow directions and observe all road signage when venturing up to the snowfields. Parks and Wildlife will be providing official updates through the Ben Lomond Committee which will be published at and to our social media platforms as available throughout the season.
Alpine Enterprises will be keeping the public updated on their new website Today’s report looks promising for a potential start-up of lifts in the morning so watch out for their morning update!

Ben Lomond Snow Sports have also recently refreshed their website and have information regarding on mountain gear hire and transport from the park registration area so check out any updates there too.

Ben Lomond Alpine Hotel are continuing to keep the public updated on their Facebook and Instagram pages on developments with their new set up for season 2018 so get behind them and support their efforts to be open within such a short timeframe.

Parks passes are now available online through the parks portal so get prepared, save the hassle and drive right to your par spot with no hassles on your arrival to the mountain. Click here to buy your pass.

Amenities and public spaces have been Parks and Wildlife’s main focus the last 6-8 weeks with temporary public shelter located at the top of the village car park and a toilet block close at the beginning of the main village street. Two new toilets are also installed at the Ben Lomond Snow Sports building adjacent to the toboggan area and a larger public shelter and toilets have been fitted up at the Northern Tasmania Alpine Club who have a formal arrangement in place to open part of their facility as a public shelter for the 2018 season. Alpine Enterprises have recently launched their new website and also have an Instagram presence @alpine_enterprises

The website contains all you need to know about Ski Lift operations and Ticket prices on the mountain. Throughout the season current conditions and lift status will be updated daily and as conditions change.

Morning snow enthusiasts. If you are holding out for a trip to the snow and planning on tackling the road to Ben Lomond please note that your friendly Parks and Wildlife team have confirmed there is snow down to the park boundary and the cover on the road is thick from the rangers station to the top car park. It is currently snowing and it’s recommended that chains are fitted to all vehicles. The Grader has been called and will be onsite from 0930hrs this morning.

Information on the cover on the ski slopes will be provided as soon as we know more. Stay tuned in for updates.

Here is a shot from Bellendena Ski club looking at the car park. Gives you a bit of an idea of what a difference 12 hours can make.
