Overnight with Gale force winds have strengthened to in excess of 30 knots (60 to 90kmph) requiring Alpine Enterprises to place the lifts on hold. As soon as conditions moderate they will be reassessed, this could be during the day today. Lift crews are ready to operate should conditions allow.

Conditions on the mountain are very cold which means the snow remains dry and crisp underfoot. Winds have settled the snow overnight filling in marginal holes on the front slopes. An inspection will be carried out over the back half of the mountain today to see if conditions have improved to commence lift operations over there once winds abate.

Winds are expected to moderate during today and ease tomorrow. Further snowfalls are forecast Wednesday through to Saturday .

Come up and enjoy all that Tasmania’s highest alpine destination has to offer.
