The freeze level has risen and it’s now softening up to close to the park boundary.  Snow can is visible on the side of the road not far out of Launceston.  The grader is working to clear the road from the park boundary up to the village and there is in the vicinity of 10cm of snow from the Rangers Station up Jacobs ladder.

Parks and Wildlife have recommended that drivers without chains delay their visit by a few hours until snow melts at lower levels.

Drivers are asked to remain aware of their surroundings in changing weather conditions. 2wd vehicles will need to fit chains close to the main road and later today, where directed by Parks and Wildlife Officers. If you are driving a car you not only need to have chains, you need to know how to fit them and how to drive your car whist they are on. For more information on chains visit the snowsafe website
