Mountain Update: High Cloud, softening snow with currently good visibility
Conditions and Lifts (Alpine Enterprises) – Currently 2 degrees, dropped 0.5 in half an hour, high dark clouds but good visibility to the top of the mountain and moderate NNW winds increasing and some precipitation . There is a good but softening snow cover on slopes. This morning we will have Bass, Village and Fannies open.

ROAD CONDITIONS –The road is open and clear (All vehicles must carry chains past the shuttle pickup) CHAINS are required to be fitted where directed, the BLC and Parks and Wildlife Services (PWS) cannot stress enough that it is imperative all drivers follow the directions of the PWS staff. If you are driving a car you not only need to have chains, you need to know how to fit them and how to drive your car whist they are on. For more information on chains visit the snowsafe website
THIS WEEKEND:
Following last weekend’s round 1 of the Ben Lomond Junior championships there were a number of timing issues which occured. As such the Race Committee has decided it is appropriate to run another round of racing to formally decide the champions for the respective events as per the below information.
Saturday 22 August – volunteers meet at the race hut to load gear onto ski-doo trailer from 2pm to commence setting up the training course, test radios and timing gear, training to run from formal lifts closure weather permitting.
Sunday 23 August – Meet at Race Hut at 8.00 a.m. to collect poles etc and set-up course;
Registration will commence @ the Felix race hut from 9:00 a.m, with Bibs being issued @ 9:30 am;
Weather and conditions permitting, Racing will commence@ 10:00 am in age order – if there are a large number of competitors, then we will split into two groups (e.g. Bibs 1 to 40 and then bibs 41+); and Race Presentation at 3 pm at NTAC – NTAC will provide soft drinks and nibbles.

Transport (Ben Lomond Snow Sports) operate a friendly convenient transport service with two troop carriers on the mountain. These run throughout the day collecting snow goers from the bottom car park at the Parks and Wildlife Service entry station and deliver you to the car park at the base of the boardwalk. If you are catching the bus you do not need to hire chains! Call 03 6390 6185 (TELSTRA SIGNAL) for a pickup or to arrange a booking. Prices are $15 per person or $50 for a family of 4 return.
